1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, accessing or using the Digital Ownership iOS app or this website, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy Privacy & Data. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.
2. The app
Digital Ownership is a local-first ownership record for iPhone. It helps you keep purchase details, coverage dates, service history, MOT/inspection and registration dates, notes and reminders in one private place. The app is a record-keeping tool. It is not a marketplace, a valuation service, an insurance product, a legal service or a safety system.
3. Licence
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
4. No account; local data
The app does not create an account and does not operate a cloud ownership database. Your records are stored on your device. You are responsible for maintaining your device, protecting it with a passcode, and exporting a backup before clearing data, changing device or uninstalling the app. We cannot recover local data that you delete or that is lost with your device.
5. Your responsibilities
- Enter accurate information. The app displays what you record and does not verify prices, dates, coverage or legal requirements.
- Do not use the app for unlawful purposes or to store content that infringes the rights of others.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the app, the website or the optional catalogue service.
- Keep your exported backups secure. They contain the ownership information you chose to record.
- Do not store special-category or highly sensitive information in free-text notes unless you accept the local risk.
6. Ownership and intellectual property
The app, website, design, text, graphics, category artwork and software are owned by Digital Ownership or used under licence. Unsplash photographs are used under the Unsplash License and credited in the app's About section. You retain ownership of the records and content you create. You grant us no rights in your local ownership records; we do not receive them.
7. App Store additional terms
You acknowledge and agree that:
- These terms are concluded between you and Digital Ownership, not Apple. Apple is not a party to them.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support services for the app.
- Apple is not responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied, to the extent not effectively disclaimed.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You must comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and any applicable third-party terms when using the app.
- If these terms conflict with Apple's mandatory terms, Apple's terms prevail to the extent of the conflict.
8. Third-party services
The app may let you open Apple system services (camera, photos, notifications), a support email link, or an optional product catalogue over HTTPS. The website is hosted by Vercel. Apple and Vercel process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
9. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. The app does not provide legal, insurance, valuation, financial, safety or professional advice. Dates and amounts are shown exactly as recorded; the app does not invent coverage, prices or renewal dates.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Digital Ownership is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to the app, website or these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law, including mandatory consumer rights.
11. Consumer rights
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have mandatory statutory rights that these terms do not affect. Nothing here is intended to waive or restrict those rights. If you believe the app is defective, contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.
12. Changes
We may update these terms when the app, the law or our providers change. The updated date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be communicated in the app or on the website before they take effect where required by law. Continued use after an update means you have seen the revised terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time and delete it from your device. We may suspend or terminate access to the optional catalogue or website if you materially breach these terms or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. The courts of Cyprus have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory right you have to bring a claim in your local courts.
15. Contact
