Getting started

What is Digital Ownership?

A private, local-first ownership record for iPhone. It keeps purchases, warranties, return dates, vehicle details, service history and reminders together. The app is native SwiftUI; this website is a separate marketing site.

Where is the Inventory Summary?

Open Settings in the app and choose Inventory Summary. It shows counts and recorded value by category, plus the items that need attention. It updates as you add or edit records.

How do I change the language?

Open Settings → Language and choose English or Ελληνικά. The app, dates, currency and category labels follow your choice.

When will the app be on the App Store?

The native iPhone app is being prepared for App Store submission. Email ownershipdigital@gmail.com for availability updates and early access.

Data & backup

Where are my records stored?

On your iPhone, inside the app's local storage. There is no account and no cloud ownership database. The app does not receive your ownership records.

How do I back up or move my data?

Open Settings → Data → Export to JSON. Keep the file somewhere safe. Import it later from Settings → Data → Import from JSON. The export contains your ownership records and locally created catalogue products.

How do I delete all local data?

Open Settings → Danger Zone → Clear all local data. This deletes only this app's local records and backups. It does not affect the web application or any other device.

How do I link a record to the Product Database?

In Add Item or Edit Item, use the optional “Product Database link” picker. It is optional. The catalogue contains non-personal product facts and never receives your ownership data, receipt images or notes.

Reminders

Why didn't I receive a reminder?

Check that notifications are enabled for Digital Ownership in iOS Settings, that the relevant date is recorded, and that the reminder lead time is what you expect. Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS; the app does not use a remote push service.

Which dates can trigger reminders?

Warranty expiry, return deadline, service due, MOT/inspection expiry and registration expiry — depending on the category and the dates you record. You choose the lead time for each reminder in the app.

Do reminders use a server?

No. They are local iOS notifications. There is no remote push service and no server-side record of your dates.

Privacy

Are receipt images stored?

No. Receipt text recognition runs on-device with Apple Vision. The image is a temporary input and is not retained, uploaded or used to train AI models. Only the details you review and save become part of a record.

Does the app collect analytics or track me?

No analytics, advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking are used. See the Privacy Policy Privacy & Data for the full data map, including the optional Product Database request.

How do I make a privacy request?

Email ownershipdigital@gmail.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. Because the app has no account, most data controls are in the app itself: you can access, export and delete local records directly. The Privacy Policy explains your GDPR rights and supervisory-authority details.

Vehicles

How do I add a vehicle?

Tap Add, choose Car or Motorcycle, then fill in the vehicle fields: VIN, licence plate, fuel, engine displacement, registration expiry, MOT/inspection expiry, service interval and current odometer. Save the record to see it on the dashboard.

What do VIN, MOT and registration mean here?

VIN is the vehicle identification number. MOT/inspection is the periodic roadworthiness test. Registration is the circulation/licence date. Each has its own expiry field and can trigger a local reminder.

How do I record a service?

Open the vehicle and add a history event with the date, mileage, cost and notes. Service events stay with the vehicle and appear in its timeline. The next service date can also drive a reminder.

Contact

How do I contact support?

Email ownershipdigital@gmail.com. For privacy requests, use the subject “Privacy request”. The same mailbox is used for press and availability updates.

What should I include in my email?

The app version (Settings → About), your iOS version and iPhone model, the steps that led to the issue, and what you expected to happen. Please do not send receipt images or personal ownership records; we do not need them to help.

How quickly will I hear back?

The target is two working days for support and within one month for GDPR requests. There is no automated ticket system; your email goes to a person.
