Privacy & data

What stays on your iPhone, what leaves it, and how to stay in control.

Digital Ownership is local-first by design. There is no account and no cloud ownership database. The app does not receive your ownership records. This page gives the short version; the full privacy policy has the legal detail.

What stays on this device

Receipts

Receipt text recognition runs on-device with Apple Vision. The image is a temporary input and is never stored, uploaded, sold or used to train AI models. On supported devices, an optional on-device Apple intelligence model may help interpret the recognised text; it runs locally and no receipt data is sent to us or a third party. Only the details you review and save become part of a record. Camera and photo-library access is requested only when you choose to scan or select a receipt.

Notifications

Warranty, return, service, MOT/inspection and registration reminders are scheduled locally by iOS. The native app does not use a remote push service for ownership reminders. Notification permission is requested only when you enable reminders, and you can change the lead times or disable them at any time.

Optional Product Database

When you choose to sync or search the optional catalogue, the app sends a request over HTTPS to our catalogue service. The request does not include your ownership records, receipt images, notes or reminder data. The catalogue contains non-personal product facts. Standard technical request data may be processed by the hosting provider to deliver the response, prevent abuse and keep the service available.
